Trump Freezes $2.2 Billion in Harvard Grants After DEI Pushback—Obama Responds

Donald Trump’s obsession with dismantling DEI programs just reached Ivy League levels.

After Harvard University’s president Alan Garber refused to bend the knee to Trump’s demands to end DEI in the name of “fighting antisemitism,” the Trump administration retaliated—freezing $2.2 billion in federal grants already awarded to the university, according to CNBC.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about antisemitism. That issue deserves serious action, not political bait. Many are calling this move what it is—a loud dog-whistle to Trump’s base and a strategic show of power aimed at dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion on a national scale.

The Department of Education and the U.S. General Services Administration tried to frame the freeze as a high-road moral stance—but folks aren’t fooled.

Former President Barack Obama took to Twitter, publicly backing Harvard’s stand and calling on other institutions to resist the pressure. His message: Don’t fold. Don’t be silent. And don’t let hate disguise itself as policy.

As the cultural war on DEI continues, the question becomes: who’s going to stand on business, and who’s going to fold like a Montgomery brawl chair?

Sound off below—do you stand with Harvard or think they’re playing with fire?
